National Bank still down

February 7, 2012 | In: Investment News

Computer crashes accumulate at the National Bank. While today, customers of “financial institution in Quebec should expect difficulties to access its transactional website, because it works only half of its capacity.

“Maps of our computer servers were damaged during the power outage of 23 January. And they have faltered yesterday, Sunday, 9 am, so our website was not working only intermittently, “says Claude Breton, Director, Public Affairs, the National Bank.

Thus, only one request can be processed on two Monday by the transactional site of the National Bank. “We will now replace the defective parts themselves. We hope to fix everything by tonight, “he adds, noting that problems could still arise tomorrow.

Should we expect a glut of servers tomorrow morning, when all requests will be processed the day before? Claude Breton think not, especially since “we encourage our clients to use other ways to make their transactions, as our phone line TelNat, ATMs and branches.”

January 23, a power failure had blocked services to individuals and businesses on the Internet. And the next day, the servers had been saturated by the exceptional volume of data to be processed.
