The scholarship is a place to organize the interaction of supply and demand of securities. It provides private and public companies as well as the state the opportunity to find funding from private and institutional investors. This is called the primary market, that of issues of securities (stocks or bonds for the most part). But to be attracted to these markets, investors should be sure they can sell the shares so acquired: and that is why there is a market called secondary, which traded securities already issued. These two markets are no longer physically installed anywhere; transactions are done by computers, as the case with intermediaries more or less numerous.

The award reflects the economic situation, and influences it. It is one of the most important modes of financing and corporate control, and, for many individuals, it provides additional income.
