Small Investments Offer Big Returns
January 7, 2009 | In: Property Investing, Share Market
Many people think that there’s just no reason to invest in small investments. They have the perception that only large investments can make them any money. This keeps lots of folks spending their money or stashing it in saving accounts earning a low interest rather than making a small investment that could really pay them large dividends in the future.
An example of this is the stock market. Many people believe that they have to purchase Blue Chip stocks that cost a fortune to make any money. Or they think that they have to buy a lot of stocks for their investment to make them any money. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Even investing small amounts of money in stocks of start up companies or spin offs from larger companies can earn big returns down the road. Risky? Maybe a little, but not that much more than with the Blue Chippers these days.
The essential thing is to do some research. If the start up is riding a wave of popularity, it may be good to get in and then get out once you’ve earned an adequate return on your small investment. A good stock broker can be a big help in choosing less expensive stock investments.
Also, collectibles and coins are good choices for the small investor. Investing a small amount of money in all kinds of collectibles and coins can truly earn enormous returns in a few years’ time.
Sports memorabilia, toys and figurines are good examples of collectibles that consistently rise in their worth. Baseball cards and comic books have also historically been proven to make good small investing opportunities. Antiques are also a good example of items that can be purchased for a reasonably small investment and will more than likely increase in value over time.
And these are some of the more fun types of investments for the small investor, or the large investor for that matter. They’re fun to shop for, buy and sell, not to mention play with or drool over when no one is looking!
