U.S. banking group Bank of America said Monday it would cut about 30,000 jobs “in the coming years”, or just over 10% of its workforce, as part of the first phase of a major restructuring called ” New Project LAC “.
This first phase is expected to produce five billion dollars in savings per year by 2014, approximately 18% of eligible retail activity (including credit cards, mortgages and back office).
“The company expects that the attrition and the elimination of unfilled vacancies will be an important part of the downsizing,” said the bank in a statement, adding that she had not intended to cut a specific number of jobs but to implement the decisions taken within the framework of the restructuring.
