In ancient times gurus used to be very knowledgeable people who used to teach the rich and the royal. Today the meaning of guru has come to imply people who are experts in their fields, who are better than their peers. In the world of finance, people who specialise in investments and a variety of other advice and financial matters are called financial gurus. They basically pass on their knowledge to people who require this knowledge, just like the days of old where the gurus passed on knowledge to their pupils.
